  • Great occasions do not make heroes or cowards; they simply unveil them to the eyes of men. Silently and imperceptibly, as we wake or sleep, we grow strong or we grow weak, and at last some crisis shows us what we have become.

Like the Rain

Versefortheweek_august12_07_600_jpg

One Wednesday evening after Bible Study, it started to rain. The rain was not harsh, pounding or intimidating with thunder and lightning, but gentle and calm. As I walked out the door, I struggled to open the umbrella while trying to keep my belongings and myself dry at the same time.  About this time, I looked up to see a young man (probably around 12 -14 years old) standing in the rain. He stood with his arms in the air, his head flung back, as if he were enjoying the rain and praising the Lord at the same time. As I pointed him out to Marc, we both paused for a moment. Here was someone taking the time to enjoy the rain, and worship the Lord in the process.

While watching that young man, I thought of this week's verse:

Let us know, Let us pursue the knowledge of the Lord. His going forth is established as the morning; He will come to us like the rain, like the latter and former rain to the earth.
