Quote

  • It is possible to escape a multitude of trouble by living an insignificant life.

    John Henry Jewett

  • Great occasions do not make heroes or cowards; they simply unveil them to the eyes of men. Silently and imperceptibly, as we wake or sleep, we grow strong or we grow weak, and at last some crisis shows us what we have become.

    B. F. Scott

January 2008

{Thursday's Quote}

"Life is a succession of lessons which must be lived to be
understood."
                               -Thomas Carlyle

Thursday’s Quote is new to the blog this year.  Each week, I will share a quote that I find interesting, thought provoking.  The quote will followed by a brief comment, note or digi-scrap layout.

Marc would probably agree whole heartedly with the above quote.  Last week, he found himself dealing with some challenging issues that resulted in a life lesson that he will probably never forget.  I’ve asked him to write it down, but he doesn’t like to write.  I even suggested talking about the experience in the form of a pod cast.  Hmmm, that got his attention – he has a great speaking voice by the way.

{The Weather Outside}

The record high today is supposed to be 65 degrees!!  65 degrees in January, when the average temperature last week was around zero degrees.  Even though I knew the expected forecast, I still walked outside this morning wearing my winter coat.  For some reason, I thought the morning air was going to be cooler than it was.

"I feel overdressed."  I said.

Marc looked at me and started laughing.

"You always do that."  He replied.

Unlike me, he's dressed in his comfortable personal trainer gear.  When it comes to the weather, he usually dresses the opposite of me.  Maybe it's a result of the years he lived in New Mexico (as he always tells people), though he was raised in the Midwest just like me.

After living here for more than 5 years, he still dresses different in the winter time.  There have been days, as we are leaving home  I look at him and think "not enough layers, you're gonna freeze".  Sure enough, he's freezing and starts wishing for the day we leave the Midwest and move to a warmer region of the U.S.

{Homemade Soup}

Saturday was the first nice day that we have experienced in a while after dealing with sub zero temperatures earlier in the week.  I was looking forward to getting outside and doing something – anything without freezing or listening to the sound of my chattering teeth.

Not Marc.  He didn’t seem too interested.  He was not acting his usual gung-ho self --‘Let’s go, let’s go”, is what he would usually say on a day like this.  I knew that he was still trying to recover from a recent bout with bronchitis, not to mention an upside down schedule that had him working nights last week.

Oh, well.

Instead, we spent the day inside.  He made delicious homemade soup for us while I surfed the web for digital scrap supplies.  {Marc’s soup was great – it’s amazing how he can add chicken broth, chicken, seasonings, fresh vegetables and it turns out wonderful.  If I try and make soup, it will taste just like that – chicken broth, ingredients, seasonings, etc. LOL} Anyway, I was excited about working on layouts again.  I haven’t worked on a layout in Months – the fresh new ideas were flowing.  To get me going again, I even made a few purchases.

Now, I just need to find the time scrap. . .

{Where Have I Been??}

How the time has passed!  It has been almost 5 months since I last posted here.  Where have I been, and what have I been doing??  It's a long, interesting story.  Of course, I will share some of those experiences here on my blog.

It's a new year, with a new focus.  I probably won't be designing as much as I did in '06, and '07, but I still plan to stay involved with the digi-scrap community with occasional freebies, layouts and perodic digi-scrap kits for sale.  I have some other ideas planned, but I'm still working out those details.  Expect to see the 'Verse for the Week' in '08, and posts that will hopefully encourage you, inspire you and make you laugh.

I'm back --  HAPPY NEW YEAR!
